Life without social media

Today I want to talk about a very important topic - how social media influences our life and daily routines.

No doubt, Instagram , Twitter , Facebook (yep, many people including me still use it ) , Youtube and many more platforms have become a significant part of our lifestyle. I'm pretty sure that 90% of people start their day by going on Instagram and checking their Mail. On the one hand I'm so grateful that we have social media. Mainly, because with its help we can communicate with our loved once. We can have conversations and video chats on Zoom or Skype and it's so important during this not easy times. But on the other hand, it's really scary to see people on their devices all the time. I mean it's some sort of addiction. Everytime we start to feel bored or have nothing to do we grab our phone and literally wasting our lives watching videos or pictures of other people having fun and living their best lives. It's crazy to me.

I, myself, was really addicted to social media, especially IG. It's like feeling a constant desire to scroll down your feed  and just look at those aesthetic pictures and videos. What I figured out is that by spending so much time on IG, TikTok and Twitter we are becoming lazier, less productive and ,most importantly, we forget about the real world. Nature, flowers, sunsets and sunrises, roadtrips, friends and family - those are the things that we should focus on.
So, what did I do? Did I quit using social media? Well, no :) I did spend some time off it but I didn't quit. It is almost impossible, mostly because social media is a great source of communication. It is the best way to keep in touch with your friends and family, especially during quarantine. But I did make some changes. I'm going to share some of my rules that help me to stay on my phone as little as possible:

1.Mornings without a phone.
That one is very important. Make sure that you spend the first hour after waking up without your phone. Don't go on Instagram right after you open your eyes. Spending the first hour on the phone  kills productivity and slows down the work of your brain. I' ve been practicing this rule for a few month already and I can tell you that mornings with a phone are so much better:) And honestly, I don't even feel the need to go on my phone after waking up.

3.Read more real books.
I've never been a fan of reading books on my phone. I do like reading news and some articles on it but not books. I'm one of those people who like to feel the pages and the smell of the book. I know that some people have trouble focusing and trust  me I do have this problem too. But if you start reading a really interesting book you will have better concentration. Besides, reading - is a very good exercise for your brain, so go ahead and start reading something right now!

2.Limit your time on IG.

On Instagram there is a tool where you can limit the time you spend on the app. I limited mine to 40 mins/ day but to tell you the truth, I use IG mostly to chat with my friends and send voice messages. So that's what I spend my daily 40 minutes on.

3.Stay in the moment.

Try to enjoy every moment, every conversation you have. Don't think about taking a picture or filming a Story for Instagram.

Well, I hope this advice and article in general was informative for you. Remember, all we have is now!

Thrift shopping: yes or no?

Today I'd like to talk about my passion, something that helps me forget about my problems and something that makes me loose track of time - shopping. Just like most girls I love shopping very much. Before quarantine my mom and I used shopping as some kind of therapy. We were the best shopping buddies and went to the malls almost every weekends. Going to the secondhand stores was also a part of our shopping journey. Certainly, everyone likes stylish and good quality clothing. But the problem is that the clothes of popular brands may cost a good deal of money. Now, I personally not a big fan of spending large amounts of money on designer clothes. I mean, I love expensive brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Prada and others, but I personally wouldn't spend millions of dollars to fill my wardrobe with designer dresses, bags and shoes. I believe that it is amazing to be able to afford the clothes of such brands but it's important not to go too far with it. I can say that I'm ...

Summer 2020 to do list

Despite the fact that we all are forced to stay at home during the summer 2020 because of the quarantine we still can make this summer productive and have fun. The most important thing is not where you spend the summer but who you spend it with. If you have your friends and family as your company - you're so lucky and you should be thankful for it:) Even if you're feeling a bit lonely - don't worry. Stay positive, take care of yourself and use this time to become a better person. I hope you'll find this to do list helpful and hopefully it will inspire you to do something memorable AND fun. 1. Outdoor movie night.  I think it is very romantic. You can do it either with your friends/family or by yourself. Just grab a laptop, some snacks, go to your backyard, turn on a movie and enjoy the atmosphere. 2. Watch the sunset.  This one is so easy and you can literally do it today. Im serious. Wait till it's evening and go watch the sunset. Sunsets are my favorite thing in t...
